Becoming an example for innovative circular design

Notas de prensa - 11 Feb 2019

A publication on HOUSEFUL’s interventions in one of the project’s demobuildings has been released

The paper Innovative Circular Solutions and Services for New Buildings and Refurbishment from HOUSEFUL’s partner Alchemia-nova GmbH has been published in Volume 183 of WIT Transactions on the Built Environment (ISSN 1743-3509).

The paper presents the interventions carried out on a centenary building in Baumgartenstrasse 93 in Vienna (Austria), one of HOUSEFUL’s four demobuildings. Goals of the interventions are to reduce the building’s energy demand and to recover water and nutrients from waste, hence closing the water and nutrient cycles.

The publication is related to a presentation gave by Alchemia-nova GmbH at Eco-Architecture 2018, the 7th International Conference on Harmonisation between Architecture and Nature. The event took place from the 2nd to the 4th of October 2018 in New Forest (UK) and was organised by the Wessex Institute and the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA. The main objective of the Conference was to discuss new frontiers of contemporary architecture and how these can lead to a more sustainable design. Only selected presentations, including the one from Alchemia-nova Gmbh, were considered for Volume 183 of WIT Transactions on the Built Environment. Papers from all presentations can be freely downloaded at this link.
