Ministerial conference on housing and construction

7-8 Mar 22

At the start of its six-month Council Presidency, France decided to reconnect the 27 EU housing ministers to discuss the European challenges of a burning issue which is a national and regional competence - the access to decent and affordable housing. HOUSING Europe, one of the HOUSEFUL partners, will be participating as part of a ‘coalition’ which will represent cities, tenants and providers of affordable housing.

The Ministerial Conference on Housing and Construction will bring together the ministers responsible for housing and construction to discuss the issue of building sustainable and affordable housing.

The first part of the conference, dedicated to affordable housing, will highlight good existing initiatives and identify levers for action.

In its second part, the conference will focus on the challenges concerning energy efficiency in housing. In conjunction with initiatives such as the New European Bauhaus, it will offer an opportunity for an initial assessment of the measures implemented, in particular as part of the European recovery plan. The ministers will also address the issues regarding the sustainable construction of new housing.

HOUSING Europe, one of the HOUSEFUL partners, will be participating at this meeting as part of a ‘coalition’, composed by  the International Union of Tenants (IUT), Eurocities, FEANTSA, Confrontations Europe and CEMR, which will represent cities, tenants and providers of affordable housing.

This coalition  has put  a 10-point plan to feed the Ministers’ discussions. You can read this plan at this link.
