European Sustainable Energy Week – 16th edition

26-30 Sep 22

The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe and comprises a series of activities aimed at building a secure energy future for Europe.

The 16th edition of the European Commission’s biggest event dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable energy, the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), starts on Monday 26 September. As it did before the pandemic, this 4-day policy conference will take place in Brussels, but all sessions can also be attended online. Moreover, there is a digital fair and the possibility to network with experts and other visitors for both onsite and online participants.

This year’s theme, “Going green and digital for Europe’s energy transition”, covers six thematic groups of priorities: the REPowerEU plan, presented by the Commission in May 2022, the digitalization of the EU’s energy system, energy efficiency, renewables, consumers and a fair energy transition and decarbonization.

The conference will be opened by Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, alongside high-level speakers from the Czech Presidency of the Council, the European Parliament, and the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy. The EUSEW Awards Ceremony, which acknowledges outstanding individuals and projects in four different categories, will follow. In the context of the European Year of Youth, the European Youth Energy Day will give young participants the chance to discuss with Commissioner Simson what actions must be taken to ensure a sustainable energy future.

The policy sessions will feature a wide range of speakers of various backgrounds, including policymakers, representatives of projects, local or national authorities, companies, citizen groups, etc. In the closing session on 29 September, an interview between Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager and Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director-General for Energy, will take place.

Most sessions are already complete for on-site attendance, but it is still possible to register and participate online.
