A touch of HOUSEFUL at the Barcelona Building Construmat
HOUSEFUL has been presented at the Catalan fair for the construction industry
The Catalonia Institute of Construction Technology (ITeC) and the Agencia de l’Habitatge de Catalunya (AHC), both members of the HOUSEFUL consortium, have presented HOUSEFUL at the Barcelona Building Construmat, a biennial trade fair for the international construction industry. The event took place from the 14th to the 17th of May 2019 in the Gran Vía venue of Fira de Barcelona (Spain). Since 2015, The Barcelona Building Construmat fair has been focusing on new growth and sustainable development models, based on digitalization, technological innovation and new construction techniques.
ITeC presentation was given by researcher Gloria Díez, who outlined the results achieved by HOUSEFUL during its first year of activity to different groups of interest stakeholders such as technicians, companies and students.
“Stakeholders interest in solutions for circular constructions is increasing, they are aware of European trends and feel more pressure for regulation”, said Díez. “Presenting HOUSEFUL allowed us to explain the essential principles of circular economy in buildings and to teach that the application in buildings of related, innovative technologies is possible.” David Sabatés, Innovation Project Manager at ITeC, added that “bringing the HOUSEFUL case to the fair was a great opportunity to increase awareness and interest among final users and to foster the project replicability”.
AHC presented HOUSEFUL on behalf of the Generalitat de Catalunya and with the aim of motivating and boosting circular economy projects. Anna Mestre and Maria Valle, AHC External Action responsible and External Action technician respectively, explained HOUSEFUL’s objectives, the work done and the AHC role in the project to groups of technicians, construction companies and material suppliers. The audience was particularly interested in how HOUSEFUL’s technological solutions will be implemented in already existing buildings.
Presenting HOUSEFUL at key international events such as the Barcelona Building Construmat is a fundamental process to spread the voice of HOUSEFUL and pave the way to the worldwide uptake of its technologies.
