4th International Social Housing Festival

7-9 Jun 23

The 4th edition of this international festival, organized by our partner Housing Europe, will take place in Barcelona from 7 to 9 June 2023.

After Amsterdam 2017, Lyon 2019, and Helsinki 2022, the 4th edition of the International Social Housing Festival will take place in Barcelona from 7 to 9 June 2023.

ISHF2023 aims to address current challenges in both mature and emerging housing systems.

Barcelona is an example of a rather nascent housing system that is introducing innovative housing policies to respond to pressing social needs resulting from the financialization of housing, housing unaffordability, forced evictions, homelessness, or migration flows, among other trends. Similar examples can be found across Southern and Eastern Europe, regions that are preparing to make an enormous jump facing both structural and emerging housing challenges on their way.

The Festival is a collective process that requires the energy and creativity of the full ecosystem of stakeholders that belong to the social, public, and cooperative housing sectors.

To look at some interesting housing debates taking place in Europe, this edition will count with the participation of Ms Kim Van Sparrentak, Member of the European Parliament, and Ms Barbara Steenbergen from the International Union of Tenants.

This year’s ISHF also wants to look beyond Europe. North and South America will be especially present in this edition, with several side events in the making and a few speakers already confirmed for one of the plenary sessions. Particularly,  Mr Shane Phillips, Housing Initiative Project Manager at the UCLA Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies, and Mr Gervasio Muñoz, President of the Argentinian National Tenants Federation, will attend the festival.
