Houseful Webinar Series | Material solutions for a circular economy

The HOUSEFUL Webinars Series presents the circular solutions that are currently under development and will be demonstrated at building scale in each of the four project's demo buildings. The 1st webinar focuses on material solutions.

As part of the European project Houseful, Turntoo and Itec are hosting a webinar on the circular economy. The webinar will give an overview of solutions for the circular economy ranging from business models to design and data management.

Thomas Rau, founder of TurnToo and author of ” Material Matters” will hold an inspirational presentation on circularity giving a broad view of the changes needed from business models, design and construction, material passports, and the cultural change needed for the circular transformation.

Licinio Alfaro, Head of the Department of Sustainable Construction in ITeC, will explain High-Information Sustainable Digital Models, and the importance of digital models to incorporate all sustainability indicators in the decision-making, especially for the creation of Bill of materials and Bill of quantities.

The discussion will be hosted by Diego Giuliani, a journalist from Euronews and ICONS editorial manager.

Get to know our speakers

Thomas Rau is an architect, entrepreneur, innovator, and recognized thought leader on sustainability and circular economy. As founder of RAU architects, Madaster and Turntoo he is known for creating leading circular solutions ranging from new business models to innovative CO2 neutral, energy positive and circular buildings. In 2016 he was nominated for the Circular Economy Leadership Award of the World Economic Forum. In 2022 he received the Circular Hero Award by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure.

Licinio Alfaro is the leader of the sustainable construction department of the ITeC. CEO of Smart Care Technology, a company created to collaborate with the health of its users and the environment.  Winner of the EESAP VEKA Award for the best communication presented at the Congress in 2016. He has developed, together with his team of experts, powerful software that can calculate the environmental impacts in building and civil works projects, in new construction, rehabilitation, and demolition.
